Explain why students should not have homework

Some people say homework is way outdated, others insist it’s essential for us to build responsibility. IMAO it depends on the subject cause some of them require more time to grasp, no? I’m all for interesting homework assignments, but when I don’t even see the point in doing them…how is gonna help me learn something?
What do you think? Why should students not have homework at all? Or should they?

I think it depends a lot on how teachers use homework. If it's just copying definitions or solving 50 similar problems, it's pointless, like you said. Only when homework connects to something we're learning in class, then yeah, it can help.

My brain literally shuts down after school like, I get home, eat, doomscroll for a while and then there’s still a pile of assignments waiting. Sometimes I give up and use Essaywriters. At least it saves me from weekly all-nighters lol

Yeah, and the "discipline" argument doesn't hold up anymore. Homework doesn't teach responsibility when half the class just copies answers from group chats anyway or uses tools like this

I kinda disagree though - students should have homework, just less of it. Like one small assignment to keep your brain active. Otherwise, we’d forget everything between classes.

True, but students have less homework now than older generations did, and we're still overwhelmed. The problem's probably the workload from every subject stacking up.

I had a teacher who made homework optional and people still did it because it felt useful. Wish more teachers got that

Exactly! Teachers forget rest is part of learning. I'd rather do one creative project every two weeks than daily worksheets that don't stick in my head!

totally agree. if homework feels useless to me, it doesn't teach me anything. teachers should tell us why we're doing it in the first place
