Is Scribbr legit or just overhyped? Be honest, pls

I’ve seen Scribbr mentioned a lot for plagiarism detection and citation tools, but I’m still not sure if it’s worth using. I read one Scribbr review that said the checker is more accurate than free ones but kind of expensive. They offer editing services too, but I’m not sure if that’s more helpful than good-old Grammarly. Has anyone here tried it for essays or a thesis? I’d love to know if it worked for you 🙏

I used Scribbr for my master's thesis and it saved me A LOT of stress. The editor pointed out where my argument was unclear and gave suggestions for flow. It felt more like coaching than just line edits.

Downsides: it's pricey, and you pay per document. If it's just a short essay, probably overkill. But worth using for something big (capstone, thesis, dissertation).

I’ve been reading Scribbr reviews all week and they’re so split 😂 Some people swear by the plagiarism checker, others say it caught stuff that wasn’t even plagiarism. I guess it depends on how strict your uni is with similarity reports

Yeah, I saw that too. Some reviews mentioned false positives on citations, which would drive me insane if I had to explain that to a professor.

Has anyone here tested Scribbr AI detector? I’m curious if it’s better than Turnitin’s built-in AI checkers. Professors at my college are starting to care more about “AI-written” stuff, so I’m lowkey nervous.

I'd call Scribbr a reliable source for citations, especially APA. Their citation generator is cleaner than EasyBib and doesn't mess up italics. I used it for a whole semester and never lost points for formatting.

Same question! My prof literally announced they’ll be using AI checkers more this year 😱

scribbr ai checker isn’t perfect, but it didn’t overflag my essay like some free ones did. I tested it against the essay I wrote fully myself and it passed

lol same here, i once got flagged for plagiarism just cuz i used a common phrase... like how is "in today's society" plagiarism??

For grammar, I still think Grammarly does the job better. It’s quick, catches typos, and helps with style. But Grammarly’s plagiarism checker looks pretty weak compared to what I’ve seen from Scribbr plagiarism checker.

I tested Scribbr paraphrasing tool out of curiosity, and it’s decent but kinda basic. It doesn’t twist sentences like QuillBot, but maybe that’s good if you’re just trying to avoid repetition.
