What is Notion good for?Is it all about AI now?

This semester looks like a tug-of-war between my brain and every AI productivity tool trying to “optimize” me. I keep seeing people talking about Notion everywhere, but for real… What is Notion good for?

Some Notion review posts make it sound like it can literally run your whole life for you. I’m not sure the tool is THAT useful. Every app now adds AI even when you don’t ask for it.

So, question for those who use Notion: do you stick to manual notes/planning or let the AI features take on summarizing and pulling info together?

tbh i use notion like a sticky note board. most features intimidate me. the ai is cool but it kinda freaks me out when it starts suggesting stuff i never asked it to touch

Omg you guys are scared of features. Notion’s AI is the only thing keeping my notes readable. If it disappeared I’d drop out.

I’ve checked a bunch of Notion reviews, and you’re right - some positive commenters act like Notion is a magic cure for chaos. It’s really not. The app is powerful, but only if you put in time to set it up in a way your brain understands. Otherwise it becomes another cute but useless tab.

those reviews are written by people who spend more time designing pastel dashboards than doing homework lol

I mean… fair, but some reviews helped me understand the database thing. Without them I’d still be using Word.docs

You know, I don't trust any review that includes the words "second brain." My first brain is already malfunctioning, I don't need a sequel.

Manual planning still feels faster. I agree with this Notion app review: the AI summaries are decent, but sometimes they skip the exact thing I need, so I end up double checking everything anyway.
