Drowning in assignments this semester and thinking about trying AI to help with research and drafting. What's everyone using these days? Any recommendations for best ai chatbots?

Been test-driving Claude AI for my lit review research and honestly impressed with what it can do. What stands out:

- Actually structures information logically (unlike my brain at 2am 😩)
- Excellent for summarizing dense research papers
- Keeps track of previous questions so you can build complex topics step-by-step
- Writing style is way more natural than most AI

Compared to ChatGPT and other best ai chatbot options I tried, Claude gives more nuanced takes and stays focused during longer sessions. The tradeoff is it sometimes refuses to help with perfectly reasonable requests because of its safety settings.

Perplexity AI changed my research game completely 🔍
As someone juggling 18 credits and a part-time job, I needed something that could quickly find reliable information. What makes Perplexity stand out is that it actually CITES SOURCES for its information (game-changer for bibliography-building).

Best part? The basic version is completely free, which my student budget greatly appreciates. Definitely recommend trying this best ai chat bot IMO if you need reliable information fast.

Quick rundown after 3 months of heavy usage of these 2 best ai chat bots:

CLAUDE: Writes beautifully structured responses and actually remembers what we were talking about 20 messages ago (unlike my ex lol). Perfect for brainstorming research angles and untangling complicated theories. Gets annoyingly cautious when you need help with anything remotely controversial though (tried to get perspectives on genetic engineering ethics and it practically begged me not to build a dinosaur army 🦖)

PERPLEXITY: Absolute citation machine that's saved me from bibliography hell multiple times. Best feature is pulling from recent sources Interface is stupid simple which I appreciate at 3am when my brain is fried.

CLAUDE vs PERPLEXITY SHOWDOWN:
Need to develop sophisticated arguments or work through complex problems step-by-step? Claude wins.
Need specific facts with reliable sources you can actually cite? Perplexity all the way.
Writing quality? Claude (it's not even close)
Up-to-date information? Perplexity
Free option? Perplexity (Claude's free version is limited)

My workflow now is using both. Anyone else developed a system for using these tools together?

Just wanted to throw another option into the best chatbot mix - Copilot has been my secret weapon this semester! It's like a middle ground between Claude and Perplexity.

Used it to break down organic chemistry mechanisms step-by-step last week when I was completely lost. The explanations were clear enough that I actually understood the process instead of just memorizing. The best thing is you can ask follow-up questions when you're confused, and it remembers what you were talking about. Only downside is no citations, so I use Perplexity when I need sources for papers.
