What’s the best AI for writing academic papers?

Okay, this may sound a bit out there, but I’m determined to try and write my college assignments with the help of generative AI.

One, I don’t have the time or energy to engage in full-cycle research for every assignment.

Two, I can’t pay a small fortune to a tutor or a professional writer. Besides, I tend to forget about some assignments till realizing they’re due in a couple of days. I need a remedy fast.

I also know AI is not magic, so I don’t expect it to whip up a submittable paper in 2 minutes. I’ve tried ChatGPT, obviously, but it either makes up facts or makes me wait too long when I try its deep research feature.

I’ve also been tinkering with Claude for a while, but I guess it has similar problems with hallucinations and sometimes has trouble finding the latest sources.

So, I started looking for the best AI writing tools created specifically for academic writing needs. Have you heard about decent ones/tried any? If you’re in the same boat that I am, we might as well help each other out 😉

just came across studypro's ai writer recently and i'm seriously impressed. It's built specifically for academic writing, which means it understands how to structure essays and cite sources properly.
I used it for a psychology reflection paper, and the outline + draft it gave me saved hours. Btw, it doesn't spit out random nonsense like some other tools i've tried (looking at you, chatgpt hallucinations 👀). Check it out if you're juggling deadlines like i am!

i’m a design student so i’ve been using picsart for visuals and mockups forever, but randomly stumbled on their ai essay writer the other day
tried it just for fun cause i was curious lol, but honestly? it’s more of a lightweight tool - feels more like a brainstorming buddy than something i’d trust with real assignments
cool for generating quick ideas or messing around with basic topics, but i wouldn’t rely on it for anything serious or properly researched
still kinda neat that they added it though

I use Canva a lot for presentations and visuals, so I gave their Magic Write tool a spin for some creative assignments. It's actually pretty fun for brainstorming story ideas or writing short intros. But I haven't used it for any proper essays yet. I feel like it's not really meant for academic writing – more of a creative helper 🤔

I agree with you, it's probably smarter to look for a tool that's trained on academic content specifically if you're aiming for structured, research-backed work.

OMG I tried StudyPro last week for my sociology assignment on digital identity, and it was a game-changer! 🙌 I put in my topic, chose the essay type, and it gave me a solid draft with intro, body paragraphs, and even citations in APA (yes, real ones!!). I just had to tweak the wording a bit and add my own thoughts. What I loved most is how it didn’t just throw fluff at me, it actually followed academic structure. Super helpful when you’re low on time but still want to submit something legit 🏆

i do part-time smm so i’m already glued to copy.ai for captions and ad drafts
figured i’d test it out on a couple of low-stakes essays too (think ‘compare two ads’ type stuff)
honestly? not bad, better than claude imo - at least it doesn’t spiral into philosophy halfway through 😅
but yeah, i still have to babysit the output
like, it gives me a decent skeleton, but i end up rewriting half of it so my prof doesn’t think i let my dog write it
not perfect, but it saves brainpower when i’m running on iced coffee and deadlines

Does anyone here actually use AI for longer, more complex papers?

Just want to say thank you for this thread - I’m so glad I found it. I tried the essay writer on Simplified out of curiosity, and wow… what a letdown. The draft it gave me was super generic, no references, no links, no real structure or argument. Even ChatGPT could’ve done a better job.

I saw a few people mention StudyPro. Has anyone tested it on something like a full research paper or an in-depth analysis? Curious if it holds up for heavier academic stuff.

hi, i’m new here and just found this thread while looking for ai writing tools. Has anyone tried the essay writer on tinywow?? I almost entered my prompt there, but then i saw this little warning that says “Your input and generated text may be stored for evaluation purposes.” 😬 And yeah… that kinda freaked me out.
I don’t want my draft floating around somewhere, especially if it’s a unique topic. Not sure if i’m just being paranoid, but it felt a bit sketchy. Would love to know if anyone’s actually used it and what your experience was like??
