Tried an AI homework helper before launch

So a few weeks ago, one of my friends who’s a dev asked if I could test their new AIHomeworkHelper.com (they’re still building it, kinda MVP stage). I said sure, why not, I write about AI tools sometimes anyway.

I’ve gotta say, it’s surprisingly appealing for an early version. I threw a few random things at it: a stats assignment with messy data, a short essay plan for sociology, and a Python function that kept breaking. The tool explained why certain steps worked, like showing how to fix my logic in the code or breaking down confidence intervals in plain language. That’s what hooked me.

The interface is barebones right now, but the homework helper really gets what I’m asking (already a good sign imao).
They’re still refining it, but I figured I’d share this case since a lot of us could use something like this.

Would you trust an AI to handle your homework explanations?

That sounds kinda cool tbh. I’ve tried a few AI tools for homework, but most give copy-paste answers, idk, just meh. Do you know if this tool will stay free once they release it, or is it going full subscription mode later?

I think I tested the same AI helper for homework a while back! The devs were collecting feedback through Discord, right? I used it for my chem problem set and it literally explained why each step mattered, which no calculator ever does.

Still a bit slow sometimes, but I'd take accuracy over speed. If they polish the UI and add export options, it could easily replace half the "study with me" YouTube hacks I use 😅

I found one AI homework helper online about a year ago and it was a mess…kept giving random formulas that didn’t even match my econ questions, and the essay feedback sounded like a bot trying too hard to be polite…After that, I kinda stopped trusting these tools. But I’m curious again now…maybe it’s time to see if things have improved?

Yeah, I asked about that! From what I heard, it’s supposed to stay free for a while. Maybe they’ll add some kind of premium tier later once they polish everything. I’m definitely planning to use it as much as possible before it blows up and gets locked behind a paywall.

Last semester I tried mixing ChatGPT with Wolfram Alpha to do my physics assignments - one for explanations, the other for calculations. It worked well once I learned how to phrase questions properly. That's why I'm always chasing the best AI homework helper based on this: check if it teaches instead of just solving stuff for you.

Pro tip: ask it to 'explain like you're teaching a freshman' - that phrasing gives gold-level answers 😉

same here 😅 I used one back in freshman year and it completely butchered my stats assignment 🙈 made-up data tables and everything. I swore off AI tools for months after that! but they’ve gotten so much smarter lately I’d try again

Has anyone here tried an AI picture homework helper yet? I saw a demo where you just upload a screenshot of your assignment and it instantly explains the problem. Curious how well that works in real life and if it can recognize handwritten notes too

If this thing can survive my crzy handwriting and still know what I meant, I’ll start calling it my new best friend 😭

Honestly, I don’t think I’d ever trust my homework to AI. It’s cool tech, sure, but there’s something about having a knowledgeable person explain things that makes it stick. A tutor can read your confusion, adjust explanations, support you, and keep you accountable - no algorithm can do that.

Yeah, I tested something like that in beta! It could read typed text well, but my handwritten equations turned out to be a TOTAL disaster. It mixed up half the symbols 😒 Still, if they ever train it better on handwriting, that feature could be amazing.

I’m studying cognitive science, so I’m wondering about how tools like this might enhance learning. Suppose an AI explains a concept in five different ways until it clicks - pretty impressive, no? Has anyone noticed if using these tools helps you remember stuff longer or just finish faster?
